Resettlement Communities

The first community we went to was GMA, named after a TV 📺 station  [all the communities are named after the donors]. I played soccer ⚽️ [not really a game] with my friends. I felt bad when I remembered when 1 of my best friends looked into my eyes 👀 and it was a baaaaaaaaaaaaad feeling.  I wished that all people could be as fortunate as me.  I am trying to find a way to help.  My first step is to donate some of my money to clean some water tanks so they have clean water to drink.

HIGH PEAKS WE CAN HELP!

We can help by having a fundraiser to help clean all the water tanks at GMA. Each tank costs 1000 peso ($20) to clean, and the communities can’t afford it. More info to come.

The kids always were smiling, it was great and I want to help!!!!

The Streets of Tacloban

The streets of Tacloban are crazy! There are cars, jeepneys, and trikes everywhere. I have got to ride in all of them! A jeepney is a small bus and they are very colorful, and they started by converting old jeeps from WWII. Trikes are motorcycles that have seats so people can ride in them. Each ride costs about $0.20. Trying to cross the street is an  adventure, especially because there are no stoplights!

My First Day Of Travels

We are going to Manila! I’m so excited. We are going to San Francisco first, then San Francisco to Taipei, and then Taipei to Manila. We spend the night in Manila, then the fly to Tacloban. I think I’ll be tired but I’ll be ready to see what’s going to happen!

Getting Ready

We are getting ready for our trip!  I am excited and nervous.  We have started to layout clothes to pack- we are only packing one big backpack each for the 2+months.  Here is a picture of the start of packing!
